Berlin’s Tegel Airport, closed since late last year with the opening of the long-delayed new airport, is holding a giant clearance sale before the terminal buildings are razed. It’s unlikely, though, that it will raise enough to pay off the billions of Euros of cost overruns on the new facility.
If the seats in the picture above bring back fond memories, now’s your opportunity to bring back those seats…in units of three. Current bids are at about $140. That even beats IKEA! A large number of 55″ monitors, formerly used for arrivals and departures are available at around $121 each.
But if you’d rather go big, there’s a coffee roasting machine (is that really airport equipment?) with a current auction bid of $4900, and several runway snowplows at around $6000 apiece
But…and there’s always a but… if you win a bid, you’ll have to pick it up by May 3rd, and no, the airport will not refund your VAT on these purchases.
