Anthony Bourdain, who was best known for his television shows and books about food, had a lot to say about the world in general and travel in particular, and that’s the subject of his soon-to-be-published last book, World Travel: An Irreverent Guide.
The book, completed after his death by co-author and collaborator Laurie Woolover, will appear on April 20. An early reviewer describes it as “both a literal guide for seeing the world as well as a source of inspiration as we plan post-pandemic travel.”
His advice on travel in the book revolves around two themes: food, and slowing down to take in the world and culture around you. “Drink some wine, walk around a bit more, eat, and repeat. See? It’s easy.” In a chapter on France, replete with advice not to schedule seeing all the famous sights at once, he says “The most important thing to do the instant you arrive in Paris is stop.”
A man after my own heart. I look forward to reading this & hope it helps with the feeling of loss.
