Now, a 727 with lie-flat and showers

No, it’s not a new entry in the premium-class airfare race. It’s a retired plane converted to a luxury hotel in South Africa, where it will join a 737-200.

At the Aerotel Aviator Boutique Hotel in Hoedspruit, it will be rentable for up to six guests for about $700 to $850 a night. In the adjoining 737, the six rooms are rented separately for $128 to $214 a night. The 737’s rooms each have a queen bed, a private bathroom and shower, coffee and tea, a refrigerator and complimentary WiFi. The layout of the 727 was not revealed.

The hotel is about a five-hour drive from Johannesburg, but much closer to Kruger National Park and other animal-based attractions.
