It seems there’s a competition for everything, but unless you’ve been following closely you might not have noticed a new champion for artificial deep dive pools. So here’s the word: Dubai is deepest, at 196 feet, beating out Poland’s 147-foot contender.
What do you do in a deep dive pool? You strap on your air tanks and head down to explore the attractions at the bottom, including a ‘sunken city’ with benches, streetlights and storefronts. Continue a bit further and you can swim into an apartment with bedroom, kitchen, dinette, arcade games and a garage with cars.
Bored while swimming around? There’s an underwater sound system to pipe in appropriate music, as well as advanced filter systems and heaters that keep the 3.7 million gallons of fresh water at 86°F, so no dive suit. And yes, it’s another Guinness World Record for Dubai, which has others for tallest building and biggest mall.
