Sometimes—rarely so, I admit—you’re at the right place at just the right time.
During our week of exploration of Katmai National Park we saw lots of bald eagles. The following sequence of photos is among my favorites, taken from a boat as we were cruising around.
I’m far from a great photographer, but was lucky enough to catch in sequence this bald eagle sitting in a tree, launching itself into flight, and then gliding through the sky before I lost track of it. This is much tougher to do than it sounds, as the bird is moving at considerable speed and is difficult to follow and frame through your viewfinder.
