You’ve probably never known there was a contest for Potato Photographer of the Year. I wouldn’t have, either, if Gumbo contributor PortMoresby hadn’t spotted an article in The Guardian (UK) highlighting this year’s winners.
The contest is sponsored by The Trussell Trust, and besides celebrating everyone’s favorite starchy vegetable in all its ways, it is intended to raise funds and awareness to fight food poverty.
The entries range from the subtle to the outrageous, from the serious (like the one above by John Glover) to purely comic, including a version of Edvard Munch’s ‘Scream’ created out of dyed potato peelings. But just click the link and treat yourself to a nice helping of potatoes!
