One of the most unique geologic features in California’s Sierra Nevada range is Half Dome, a mountain whose top was literally sheared in half by a glacier during the last Ice Age. We visited Glacier Point — one of the best viewing spots in Yosemite National Park — on a rainy day when much of the Valley was shrouded in clouds, some of which covered Half Dome.
With the passage of a few minutes, the view cleared and the distinctive feature of Half Dome appeared from the mist.
