If you’re in town in summer and want to escape the heat, head to Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. Take part in night hikes and enjoy the bright stars in the sky. Not feeling too outdoorsy? Don’t worry, the park has a musical theatre and offers tours of old memorabilia.
Don’t miss Nevada’s first state park, the spectacular Valley of Fire which is dotted with huge bright red sandstone formations. At sunset, the valley looks like it’s on fire due to the red hue of the stunning rocks. Hike, camp, admire gorgeous landscapes, or study the ancient pertroglyphs carved on stones. Have enough of desert scenery? Drive to the north and take in the verdant beauty of Mount Charleston. Check out the hiking trails or set camp for some wilderness adventure.
