Norwegian Cruise Line, which was one of the industry’s leaders in insisting on only vaccinated crew and passengers and among the most consistent with mask policies is now starting to roll back some of its rules.
Starting March 1st, vaccinated passengers will no longer be required to wear masks indoors, although they will be encouraged to. In a bigger move, the line will also allow number of unvaccinated children under 5 to cruise along with their parents. Previously the line has required that all passengers and crew be fully vaccinated, effectively barring children from cruises.
Along with the changes in mask and vaccine rules, there are testing changes. While the line has provided embarkation-day Covid testing for passengers. After March 1st, that will end and cruisers will be required to pay for their own pre-cruise testing. No word yet on whether other lines will follow.
