As I stated in a previous post, 8 FREE things to do in St. Louis, we were getting ready to plan a trip to Saint Louis and were looking for a few things to do. It was a road trip, so we were bringing our fur babies with us on our trip. With that in mind, I wanted to find a few free Saint Louis pet-friendly things we could do with them that are also fun and enjoyable for us as well. Here are eight parks and places where they are welcome that seem the most interesting to us. Of course each group and family are different, but I am sure you can find something the whole group will enjoy. Hope you find this list of dog parks, etc helpful.
Riverfront Trail
Want to get a little walking in with your fur buddy? If so, why not head to the Riverfront Trail. It’s a great place to see unique art and beautiful riverside views. Sounds like a great place to take a walk with our babies.
Castlewood State Park
If you are willing to drive for about 30 minutes, you can visit beautiful Castlewood State Park. Once you get there, the Meramec River, plenty of trails, and awesome views await. Hopefully, we can take our fur babies here while vising the area. As long as it’s not too hot, it sounds like it would be a pleasant place to walk.
International Tap House
Try a wide variety of craft, international, or gluten-free beer with your furbabies on their spacious outside patio where water bowls are provided. International Tap House does not offer food but patrons are welcome to bring their favorite bites or order food delivery from a local restaurant. We love craft brews (living here in Denver we try them a lot) and having a place to go and bring a pet is a HUGE plus for us. This place is definitely on our list for the next time we are in the area. It’s nice to have a few Saint Louis pet friendly choices and new places to try.
Old Chain of Rocks Bridge
The bridge is short and narrow, only 1 mile long by 24 feet wide, but it now carries bikes and pedestrians instead of cars across the river. On the Missouri side, the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge connects to the St. Louis Riverfront Trail. In Illinois, travel a short distance east on Chain of Rocks Road to reach the Eagle Points Trail and Madison County Transit Confluence Trail. This sounds like something I REALLY want to do with or without a dog, lol. I just love bridges.
Laumeier Square Sculpture Park
We have actually been to this park once with our furbabies. It is 105-acres and houses over 60 outdoor sculptures and features 1.4-miles of walking trails. It is HUGE but beautiful. There is also an indoor gallery and an 1816 Tudorstone mansion. This was the former residence of Henry and Matilda Laumeier. We had a great time running around and looking at all the sculptures while our puppies got a little exercise too.
City Garden
Sounds like a great place to spend a sunny afternoon with your furry friend. There are lots of art sculptures for you to see, as well as fountains for them to run through if they get hot. Sounds like this would also be a good place for kids to run around as well. Plus they will get a little bit of culture too
Ellen Clark Sculpture Park
While not technically a dog park, there are picnic tables for you and plenty of space for your pup to romp. Unlike some parks, this one even has a baggy dispenser. Here’s my PSA – Be a responsible pet owner and pick up after your pet. Ok, moving on, lol. We enjoyed this park while in the area our dogs seemed to have a good time running around. Worth checking out if you are near the school. Check out my post here.
Global Brew Tap House and Lounge
Their website says “believe in GOOD BEER®” well we do, lol. As I said earlier in this post we love craft beer and try to find unique places wherever we visit. They serve up to 50 different types of beer and pooches can be inside and out as no food is served on-site. This is also another place that we will make sure to try the next time we are in Missouri.
Well there you have some of the top Saint Louis pet friendly parks and places where you can bring Fido (furbabies to us) and have an enjoyable time. Some are indoor in case of hot or inclement weather. If you have another place you would like me to add, please send me a message below and I will be happy to add it to this list. Happy trails, lol.
