Leaving behind the airport that was once its main base in Paris, Air France is moving all its Paris area operations to the city’s main international airport, Roissy/CDG, citing a drop in demand for domestic flights.
Orly, south of the city, has been a busy secondary airport for domestic and other flights, but the airline says that the rise in videoconferencing in place of business travel, as well as a national push to get domestic travelers onto trains for shorter distance travel has made Orly unnecessary for now.
The airline cited 40 to 60% drops in domestic travel from Orly in its statement. However, Air France’s low-cost subsidiary, Transavia, will continue to be based at Orly
