Europe’s already dense rail network will see a host of new trains, new routes and some extended routes in the next year, a boost for those who’d rather ride than fly and for the environment.
Many of the new routes are night sleepers, a way of travel that has seen a strong resurgence after nearly dying out several years ago. Night routes can allow passengers to save a hotel night as well as avoiding airport hassle; for vacationers, it can also mean another day for touring rather than travel.
Among the new routes coming are a night sleeper that will link Berlin to Paris and Brussels; it will debut this December and become a daily service next year. From Berlin there are onward connections to Warsaw, Krakow and Prague. The train leaves Paris around 7 pm and arrives in Berlin at around 8:30 am.
Another Paris to Berlin service, on European Sleeper, will be extended to Dresden and Prague early in 2025. Krakow, Poland will see several new links to Vienna, Berlin and beyond. There will also be new Hamburg to Vienna services.
