MSC Cruises, a Swiss/Italian company is trying to woo customers in the United Kingdom with cruises that sail from Southampton and with amenities it hopes will make British cruisers feel right at home.
And that means an extensive ‘tea library’ of over 100 varieties from all the well-known British brands, from Twining and Tetley to supermarket own-brands.
The British tap water to brew them with comes bottled in three varieties, representing London, Birmingham and Dundee, said to be also a choice of hard, moderate or soft water. There are also dozens of varieties of milk, sweeteners, mugs and cups.
This follows a One Poll Survey of 2,000 people commissioned by MSC Cruises (May 2024) that found 51 percent of those surveyed take their own tea onboard; 37 percent take their own kettle and mug and 75 percent get stressed when they go abroad in case the quality of tea isn’t up to the standard it is at home.
