Anyone looking to hit 30 mph with no more equipment than a bathing suit can head for the Mt Olympus Water and Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells, where a new 145-foot high slide promises that kind of thrill, and claims to be the tallest in America.
The waterslide, called “Rise of Icarus,” is named for a man best known for his fall, rather than his rise as he tried to fly to the sun with wax wings, but leave that idea aside. The installation has five slides grouped around a tower, with the longest slide starting at the top and looping repeatedly around on the way down.
Wisconsin Dells is the “waterpark capital of the world” with 20 different water parks within the city limits.
