While driving from Maine to Concard, NH, my husband and I stopped in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to check out the USS Albacore and Ghost stealth ship.
The USS Albacore is a unique research submarine that pioneered the American version of the teardrop hull form of modern submarines. The revolutionary design was derived from extensive hydrodynamic and wind tunnel testing, with an emphasis on underwater speed and maneuverability
The Ghost is a highly advanced super-cavitating stealth ship. The prototype was produced privately by Juliet Marine Systems for the Navy in 2012. Due to its special design the Ghost Ship is able to travel over water at a fraction of the friction experienced by conventional vessels with impressive maneuverability and speed. The Articulating Swath allows Ghost to cut through and run smoothly in seas of up to 10 feet.
