Following complaints last month by Nepal’s Sherpas that Mount Everest had become the “world’s highest junkyard,” littered with food trash, human waste and unwanted equipment, India’s army mountaineers will join a team of Sherpas on clean-up duty.
The 34-member volunteer team plans to clear 4000 kg of what’s left behind by hundreds of climbers. They expect to carry it down at a rate of 10 kg per trip per member. That’s in addition to their own 10 kg packs. From the Telegraph (UK), MORE
