New startup aims to be “Airbnb for yachts

Airbnb has made a name for offering vacation rentals that range from a couch to a condo to a house or caravan, including the occasional boat. Beds on Board, a new startup, aims to do more or less the same, except they’re focusing on yachts.

 

Started by two Brits who couldn’t find accommodations in Palma Majorca during a popular sailing event and realized there were empty berths on yachts in the harbor. They say they’ve now signed up hundreds of owners and potential guests, with listings from $65 a night to the stratosphere. The rules include “hands off the wheel!”

 

The company doesn’t charge for listings, but will keep 5% from the owner and 10% from the guest when rentals are paid. From USA Today, MORE
