Gumbo’s Pic of the Day, September 25, 2015: Whitcombe village

This is a part of Whitcombe village in Dorset, England and the photo shows its quintessential English charm of pale-stone built houses,  thatched roofs,  rolling meadows behind, all under blue skies. It all contributes to the ideal “chocolate box” photo… and I like it! I hope that you do too!

It is so charming. These are the little gems in England that you need to get off the main roads to find. You never know what will be around the next corner or over the next rise. Thanks for the lovely photo.

January 15, 2016: Stonehenge Summer Solstice

The sign of times soon to come! This was my first summer solstice sunrise at Stonehenge in England and I love the picture because it heralds the warm sunny days that are yet to come (please!) after the dark days of winter. The solstice sun-rises are the only occasions these days when the public are allowed to be within touching distance of the old stones that comprise ‘the Henge’.
