Winter comes early to the Rocky Mountains, especially in the mountain passes and high meadows. But early fall is a great time to visit Glacier National Park. The throngs of families traveling during the summer are back home, traffic is light, and the fall colors have appeared.
These photos were taken during a drive on the Going to the Sun highway a few years back, about mid-September. The mountains had a beautiful dusting of snow, and the aspen and birch were beautiful!
Glacier National Park and it’s satellite service communities start shutting down for the season after mid-September, so make sure you can find accommodations if you travel later than this.
Beautiful photos! Makes me appreciate all over again the wonders this nation has to offer!!!
Absolutely beautiful!
