Feb. 6, 2016: Dashing through the Snow

There’s something beautiful about freshly fallen snow in a forest.  As a youngster, I loved to get out there and toboggan, make snowmen or built a snow fort.  As an adult it means a lot of shoveling and snow-blowing, so a little less fun.

People aren’t the only ones who enjoy fresh snow.  As is evident from these photos of my wife’s horses, they’re also very fond of the white stuff.  We’d see them playfully racing around  the fresh powder until they grew tired.  Horses adapt amazingly well to cold weather, growing a thick long coat that protects them from the elements.

The photos are from our property near Spokane, Washington.

I can feel the stress draining away just looking at those beautiful beasts.

Amazing colours they have.

I know it’s nothing to do with luck . But you are a lucky man DrF. !!

Looks like a good idea for a cold winters day.

A gallop in the snow.

Just hope there’s no frozen ponds underneath.

Great scenery you have – enjoy it while it lasts !

The View North

I was visiting a friend, and this was the view from their house. I could understand why they built their house facing this direction. I was taken by the beauty!
