This month the Centers for Disease Control and Protection came out with an alert asking pregnant women of any stage of pregnancy to consider delaying travel to 14 destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean because of the Zika virus.
Zika virus which is spread through mosquito bites. Though It causes only a mild illness in most people, there’s been some evidence linking Zika infection in pregnant women to a rare birth defect called microcephaly, in which the babies head is smaller than normal and the brain has not developed properly. Zika infection has also been linked to other poor pregnancy outcomes. The CDC states ” More studies are planned to learn more about the risks of Zika virus infection during pregnancy.”

Brazil,
Colombia,
El Salvador,
French Guiana,
Guatemala,
Haiti,
Honduras,
Martinique,
Mexico,
Panama,
Paraguay,
Puerto Rico,
Suriname,
Venezuela
