World’s tallest building proposed for Tokyo

Architects and developers have teamed up to propose a mile-high skyscraper to house up to 55,000 residents in what would be the world’s tallest building. If approved, it would be completed by 2045.

The building, which would include large openings between residential sections to relieve wind pressure, and would have both vertical and horizontal elevator systems, is planned to rise from a series of islands to be built in Tokyo Bay as a flood-control measure. The whole island development could house up to half a million people.

Its 5577′ height would dwarf the current tallest building, the 2727′ Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and be more than 2000 feet taller than the under-construction Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia. For more details and pictures from The Telegraph (UK), click HERE

The tallest building in the world AND the Pacific rim fault line don’t go together.

Not a combination to grab my attention.
