It looked like a clean getaway: Thieves forced the door of a tapas bar near Cadiz and got away with 7 legs of Iberico ham worth €120 each, the TV from above the bar and €128 in cash.
But then the bar owner’s wife and mother noticed a trail of fat where the thieves had dragged the meat on the ground, and followed it to a house around the corner, where police recovered two of the legs and other stolen property. It’s believed that accomplices have the other two legs.
Owner Domingo Infante told reporters “We didn’t know whether to laugh or cry…it’s like something out of a silly film. I’ve never imagined my wife and mother-in-law would turn out to be the detectives who solved this!”
