Barcelona, one of the world’s great food and market cities, is signing on to promote more vegetables. The city announced Tuesday that it will be “veg-friendly, friend of vegan and vegetarian culture.”
Concrete steps include, as the sign above indicate, publication of a vegetarian cookbook, creation of a space for promotion of vegan and vegetarian lifestyles and products, and official support for the multi-national Meat Free Mondays campaign started by Paul McCartney.
The proposal was supported by the five parties of the left coalition governing Barcelona; the two non-coalition parties abstained so it could pass.
