London, which has seen its share of great fires, including those of 1666 and the World War II Blitz, is ready to do it again, but not for real, on the 350th anniversary of the 1666 fire.
Starting tomorrow, on the anniversary of the Pudding Lane fire that changed the face of the city forever, London will have a month of fiery re-enactments, light shows and exhibits exploring the history of the fire and its impact on the city as we know it.
Among others, ‘fire artists’ will create a fire garden in the area between the Tate Modern and the Thames, a fiery light projection will illuminate the dome of Saint Paul’s Cathedral (ironic, since the present cathedral owes its existence to the burning of its predecessor), and more.
