If you’re willing to pay for amenities or do without, your chances of cheap trips to Europe next year just got better. Discounters WOW and Norwegian are both adding new routes and pushing low sale fares.
Iceland discounter WOW will add Miami in April with fares as low as $99 each way between Miami and Rekyjavik, or $149 to many of WOW’s European destinations such as London, Berlin and Amsterdam.
Norwegian is adding Barcelona to its list of cities served from the U.S., with flights starting next June. Flights will connect Spain to four U.S. cities, two on the East Coast (New York/Newark and Fort Lauderdale) and two on the West (Oakland and LA).
The airline will also add Oakland-to-Copenhagen in March, and began Paris service from JFK, Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale this summer.
Trans Atlantic flights have been a rip off for many years. So I welcome the new kids on the block. Competition will improve the travellers choice of affordable destinations.
