Gumbo was visiting the Maritime Museum in San Francisco.  Congratulations to George G, PortMoresby and Roderick Simpson who solved this week’s travel puzzle.

The National Park Service runs and operates the Maritime Museum located in the Fisherman’s Wharf area of San Francisco. There is an aquatic park immediately adjacent with amazing views of the surrounding Alcatraz Island, Golden Gate Bridge and north San Francisco Bay.

The building is tiled by several marine-themed artistic creations, while the interior houses several exhibits, discussing stories about voyage, immigration and traffic through the Golden Gate of America. There is a stern of the Niantic, a Gold Rush ship from the 1850’s.

Walked past this building many times in my visits to SF, but have yet to stop by.  Need to check it out next time, I guess.
