Saga Cruises has come up with what must be one of the most unusual destinations for a shore excursion: the cruise lines’ next ship, under construction.
Passengers on the Saga Sapphire sailing from Southampton next year will be taken to visit the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, near Hamburg, where the line’s next addition, Spirit of Discovery, is being built.
The visit will include a behind-the-scenes look at the ship as it’s being built. Saga is selling tickets for the new ship starting in September, before it actually enters service.
