De Cercle En Ellipse (Where Gumbo Was #221)

Gumbo was in Tracadie, New Brunswick Canada at the De Cercle En Ellipse work of art by Denis Lanteigne. Congratulations goes to George G for identifying it on only the second day!

Tracadie

This art  was commissioned to celebrate the town of Tracadie-Sheila becoming the first regional municipality in New Brunswick, Canada when it added 18 local service districts in 2013.

Tracadie has a lot of interesting history and some places were shown as clues to the WITW puzzle.

Saint-Jean-Baptiste et Saint-Joseph Church is of Gothic Revival style. It was completed in 1949 on the same site as the first stone church, which burned down in 1925.

People stayed here who were affected with Leprosy from 1849 to 1964.  After a fire in 1946, it was replaced by a similar building. The lepar hospital was closed in 1965 and was torn down in 1991.

Le Chateau d’Acadie is a wonderful historic house that’s now a bed and breakfast. It serves delicious meals for breakfast and lunch.
