When life gives you lemons, as they say.
Last year, one of Malta’s iconic visitor sites, the Azure Window arch at Gozo, collapsed into the sea after a storm (although GPS programs continued to send visitors there for months after.)
After a period of grief, and even proposals to recreate the feature, it has found a new life as one of Europe’s hottest new sites for divers. The large blocks are impressive underwater sights in their present form, with sheared surfaces, divers say. And, as fish and other marine life begin to make themselves at home there, diving over the next few years will be a panorama of change.
