Lille’s Beaux Arts museum, said to be second in size in France only to the Louvre, may have more pictures than it has room for. Seen here in one of its incredibly high-ceilinged rooms, the museum carries on the old tradition of covering the walls with many pictures.
I don’t mean to carp, but I honestly felt I did not get the most of the paintings hung way above eye level…but it is a beautiful and rewarding museum.
