More winter fun for Copenhagen’s Tivoli

Copenhagen’s favorite summer fun spot, Tivoli Gardens, is getting a longer winter season this year, with events scheduled through most of February, covering Danish school holidays, Valentines and Fastelavn, the holiday when Danish children go trick-or-treating.

Originally open only in the summer, Tivoli is a wonderland of amusements, rides, food and performances. It’s had winter openings for Halloween and Christmas for the past several years, but this is the biggest move toward what could become year-round programming.

Among the special events planned are light installations, part of the city’s Light Festival, an ice skating rink and igloo and an ice maze. There will also be creative workshops and children’s theatre. And Tivoli’s 103-year-old wooden rollercoaster and several other rides will also be open.
