While we don’t focus on reviews of restaurants or hotels on TravelGumbo, we do like to share special places that we’ve enjoyed during our travels.
Today’s Pic of the Day features a wonderful breakfast/lunch diner I discovered while visiting Northern Nevada . Peg’s Glorified Ham ‘n Eggs was founded in Reno in 1999 by a husband-and-wife team, Fred and Joanna (aka “Pops and Peg”). The original restaurant became so popular that there are now eight sites, including Carson City (the one we visited), Sparks and Henderson.
We breakfasted at Peg’s a number of times during our week in the Reno area and tried a variety of breakfast entries. All were excellent! Peg’s is especially known for its omelets and “Glorified Skillets”. They even offer fried Spam and eggs, something I know PHeymont would dig into with gusto given the chance (never met anyone outside of Hawaii who enjoys Spam more than Paul).
While most people go to Peg’s for breakfast, there’s also a lunch menu that includes tacos, sandwiches and salads. Daily specials are available. Portions are huge and prices reasonable, so be sure to arrive hungry.
Take a look at these tasty omelets….
Or huge breakfast skillet platters, including Huevos Rancheros….
Or on the lighter side, a lovely Belgian waffle….
…French toast and fresh fruit.
We enjoyed speedy and friendly service and I’m definitely looking up Peg’s when in Nevada again. Highly recommended!
