A rare Iberian lynx that authorities released into the wild in southern Portugal’s Algarve region three years ago has apparently taken up long-distance travel.
The spotted cat was wearing a transmitter that allowed tracking of its whereabouts and habits, but about a year ago, signals stopped, still in the Algarve.
Last month, the experts were surprised to find their missing lynx was spotted over 1000 km away, on the far corner of the Iberian peninsula in Catalonia.
No word on whether it plans to return to Portugal after its vacation.
