Now Ryanair wants to sell everything!

Ryanair would like to sell you a soccer ticket. And a flight to the game. And a hotel room. And travel insurance, a rental car and a ride to the airport.

The soccer tickets are the latest addition in the airline’s bid to capture every dollar it can from passengers, on top of the ones it collects in fees for bags, boarding and more. They even sell London theatre tickets.

Ryanair’s wide network of flights across Europe have made the airline popular with football fans flying to follow their teams, so the hookup seems logical. The tickets are on sale for some games already, through a link with ticket vendor Coras, which already sells theatre and tourist attraction tickets through the Ryanair website.

If Ryanair seems ambitious, it’s more than just a feeling. Chief Marketing Officer Kenny Jacobs has said the Ireland-based discount airline wants to become “the Amazon of travel.”

And, oh yes, an extra charge for a stadium or theater seat, big fee for a bed in the hotel room, wheels on the rental car, etc. etc.  And a very special additional cost for civility.  No, wait, that’s not available.

I use Ryanair regularly. I pay $20 for a flight to Dublin. I get 1 seat on a well maintained, modern Airplane. I fly back to England for another $20.

Just like getting a Bus – City to City.

No problems.
