There are more than 9,400 streets in the Medina located in the heart of Fez, Morocco. The UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the world’s largest urban pedestrian zones with 1.2 million residents.
Streets twist and wind past businesses, houses and mosques. I was fortunate to have an Exodus Travels guide to take me through the labyrinth. If you expect to find your way out at the end of your visit you certainly need the expertise of a tour guide. It’s claustrophobic to think about getting lost in the narrow streets and alleyways.
