An active lighthouse on La Palma in the Canary Islands has become a boutique hotel with rooms to rent in the former lighthouse keeper’s cottage which is built onto the 36 metre tower.
The Punta Complida lighthouse, which has been operating since 1867, was converted to automatic operation with LED lights, so the cottage was available for conversion as part of a major renovation of the tower. It is located on the northeast corner of the island.
The hotel has four rooms and suites, sleeping up to eight guests. They have access to an infinity pool high at the edge of the rocky promontory the lighthouse sits on, as well as access to the view from the tower.
