As other airlines move to ban plastic straws and to use only compostable and recyclable cups and plates, Air New Zealand is going that little step further, with a vanilla-flavored edible coffee cup.
The cups come from a small company called Twiice, which says that “It showcases to the world that a little bit of Kiwi ingenuity and innovation can have a really positive impact on the environment.”
The airline has been switching to plant-based cups on all aircraft and in its lounges, saving about 15 million cups a year from landfills. It’s been pleased enough with customer response to the edibles that it may soon extend the trial to a much wider audience.
