With Puerto Rico, like so many other places, following an aggressive lockdown to limit the spread of COVID-19, it’s had to tell its many visitors it’s time to go home—though some seemed to miss the message.
The official tourism promotion office, Puerto Rico Tourism Company, is working to assist travelers, and also to encourage their future return, by promising all visitors whose plans have been disrupted free excursions and experiences when they return in future.
The island’s government has ordered everyone to stay home, or for tourists, to stay in their rooms unless they are able to travel home, but well into last week, police reported having to spread the word to crowds gathering on beaches.
