Vatican launches its own streaming

With travel still limited, including limits on access to the Vatican’s museums, those who can’t wait to get enough Vatican can now tune into VatiVision, the Papal enclave’s first official streaming service.

Dubbed “Netflix of the Vatican” by some Italian newspapers, the new channel plans to feature cultural, artistic and, yes, religious content with the slogan “Culture, art and faith, everywhere with you.” It’s a joint venture between Vetrya, an Italian cloud computing company and the Vatican’s Office of Communications, which produces content for various Vatican institutions.

The service launched today in Italy, and will be rolled out later in the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, the Philippines, Spain and Poland. Expect a lot of content based on the Vatican’s Museums, but don’t expect a late-night showing of The Da Vinci Code anytime soon!
