France’s best Secret Spots you should Visit

(content by Pete M)

Being one of the most beautiful countries in the world, France is a proud nation with hundreds (even thousands) years of history that make this area of Europe packed-full of beautiful things to see and awe-ing places to visit.

From camping in France under the starry night to going through medieval hallways that the very kings that built this country walked through — there’s a lot to see.

But, in order to get the most out of your visit to France, maybe it’s going to be a better idea to skip the Verssais and the Eiffel tower and go with less known, more exciting, hidden gems throughout the country.

So, without any other further ramblings, let’s go over four destinations that are better than waiting in line to go up a metal tower in the middle of Paris. From the capital, to deep in the country, let’s just get started with the first one!

Spend some time in the artsy Montmartre in Paris.

Montmartre in Paris has long been the artsy neighborhood of the capital. With cafés and many Instagram-worthy locations, Montmartre is definitely worth the visit.

The bohemian roots of the whole place radiate, and it’s completely different than the hustle and bustle that you experience throughout the whole of Paris. There are also tens of tiny restaurants that offer delicious, Paris-special meals that you can’t get anywhere else in the world. Not to mention the atmosphere.

Go outside the big cities and spend a day roaming the lavender fields in Provence.

There’s something romantic, personal, and exciting in roaming vast fields of purple lavender during the blooming period.

One thing is that it makes for amazing photos. The kind that everyone on Instagram will be jealous of.

The best lavender fields can be found in Provence and it’s best to visit between July and August.

The bubble hotel over in Allauch is a great choice for those that love to stargaze.

There are awesome, romantic getaways, and then there are seriously romantic getaways. This one is the latter. It’s what comes closest to camping in France, without the actual need to have a camping tent or spend the night outside.

The bubble hotel at Allauch is a capsule-style hotel that is transparent. It’s like you’re sleeping in a glass bowl.

And the best thing is that you can see the night sky and every star as long as the sky is clear and there are no clouds.

Visit La Cite Medievale de Carcasonne and experience the history and heritage of France.

And, of course, you can’t forget about the history that is all throughout the country of Paris. There are numerous castles and small medieval towns that you can roam and spend some time in, immersing yourself in the history of this place.

If we had to pick one it’s La Cite Medievale de Carcasonne.

From the awe-ing panoramas to the chambers and the overall architecture of the castle, it’s definitely worth the visit.

France is a big country, with a lot to see in. There’s everything for everyone. From the world-renowned restaurants to medieval castles that are waiting for you to explore, it’s worth spending a week or two roaming throughout France.
