Brussels subway riders will have more to look at than the tunnel walls as the Metro system gets a ‘fresh-up’ of its older cars with bright scenes of the city up on the surface.
The STIB transit operator is starting with a dozen cars on lines 2 and 6, with seatbacks and other surfaces showing scenes such as the one above of the city’s iconic Grand Place.
An STIB spokesperson told local press that “The purpose of these photos is to freshen up older metro carriages and at the same time allow our travelers to rediscover the city. The upholstery of the seats, walls and ceilings gives the travelers a 360 degree feeling, as if they were on the spot themselves.”
