There’s lots of places to buy souvenirs in Costa Rica. I was drawn to this colorful roadside shop situated in the hills north of San Juan.
The merchandise these shops sell is pretty standard across the country. Mostly locally made items including paintings on media like wood or feathers, framed butterflies and, of course, the traditional colorful ox carts used in farming regions.
Prices are not cheap, but reasonable, and your purchases support local artisans.
