After running around South Mountain Park in March of 2017, my niece Alex and I were hungry and wanted some good Mexican food. We jumped on our phone and found a place that the locals go, Comedor Guadalajara. It is a family owned and operated Mexican food restaurant located in South Central Phoenix, AZ. For over 40 years, they’ve been serving Phoenix’s finest Mexican food with exciting dishes and unique ambiance.
The average 25-40 minute wait didn’t seem too long, and the place sounded really good. It didn’t bother us to wait, and that usually means the food is really worthy. We made our way there and had to fight to find a parking spot. That was another good sign that the food is good.
The wait actually wasn’t that long even though there were quite a few people waiting. Our food was traditional, amazing, and worth the wait. They had pictures of their 3 Carne Asada Tacos, which looked mouth watering. I hadn’t had Carne Asada for a long time ( nothing good here in Colorado ) so it was such a great treat.
After we placed our order our server brought us some chips and salsa, as well as our delicious Margaritas. They were amazing and just what we needed after a day of running around Phoenix. Alex had just turned 21, so it was special on a few levels.
Our food came up pretty quickly, and we dug in after a few hasty pictures. Our food was AMAZING. I was happy to see that the tacos were served on the smaller traditional tortillas. This made it even more authentic. We were both so glad that we found Comedor Guadalajara and I would love to go again the next time I am in Phoenix. I highly suggest checking it out the next time you are in the area. One more thing I wanted to point out was that they don’t take reservations. The wait was pretty quick, but is worth it even if it wasn’t. Here is a link to their website with more info, address and hours.
