After a year of focusing on getting airline passengers masked, and in many cases tested, and with proposals to require vaccination, some airlines are shifting the focus to the crews flying the planes and serving the passengers.
Etihad (image below) recently claimed to be “the first airline in the world with 100pc vaccinated crew on board,” and was quickly followed by Singapore Airlines, along with its SilkAir and Scoot brands. United Airlines, according to its CEO, is considering mandatory vaccination for all staff, but has not made a decision.
Airline and aviation workers in the U.S., because of their constant contact with passengers, have been concerned about safety, and have asked for priority in vaccine distribution. Airlines are hoping that passengers will be more willing to fly if they know they are not in contact with possibly contagious crew and have begun to make it an advertising point.
