In a throwback to many years ago, Amtrak is adding sleeping cars to some of its overnight Northeast Regional trains between Washington and Boston, an amenity that’s been missing for many years.
For those interested in more of a nap rather than the eight hours or so between the two, tickets can also be booked to and from Baltimore, Philadelphia and New Haven, and likely New York, though Amtrak’s release did not mention it. Tickets start at about $199 one-way.
The cars will have roomettes and bedrooms; those booking the bedroom, which also comes in an accessible version, get turndown service and continental breakfast before arrival. All sleeper passengers also get access to Amtrak’s Metropolitan Lounge at Washington Union Station and Boston South Station.
Tickets for the sleeper service are available now; service starts April 5.
