Portugal’s central region has launched a campaign to pull visitors, including form overseas, back to an area that was a pre-pandemic favorite destination for many Portuguese, and it’s offering promotional prices on hotel getaways to make it happen.
The region’s tourism leader, Pedro Machado, told media that “This is a campaign to create hope, to tell the Portuguese people that it is worthwhile to go back to tourism in the Centre of Portugal” and has set a goal of 10,000 hotel stays for the coming season. After Portuguese, the next biggest target is visitors from Spain.
The campaign by Turismo Centro de Portugal, partnered with the Continente card and two travel agencies, already has over 80 hotels and accommodations signed on to the deals, which include stays from 89 to 109 Euros per person for two nights which can be extended up to six nights if the hotel has availability.
