First intercity flight for Aircar

Aircar, a dual-mode vehicle made in Slovakia, says its moving closer to production after its first successful inter-city flight, carrying its designer and the company’s co-founder from Nitra to Bratislava.

The prototype, which has 40 hours of flight under its wings now, has a 160 horsepower BMW engine, a fixed propeller and a top speed of 190 km/h and has reached an altitude of 8200 feet.

The next model, a pre-production prototype will have a 300 hp engine, and a variable pitch propeller, and will be submitted for certification both as an M1 road vehicle and aircraft certification by the European Aircraft Safety Agency.
