Airlines seem to be taking a new look at the vouchers and credits that have piled up during the pandemic year, with United integrating its whole credit structure into its booking tools as a payment option.
Last week, American airlines announced it was unifying all of its vouchers and credits into a more flexible system and expanding the uses they can be put to, a move that is reflected also in United’s action.
Where previously United voucher and credit holders needed to track them separately and often call customer service reps to use them, they will now appear among the payment options in all transactions on United’s website and app, allowing them to be applied for airfare, upgraded seats, baggage fees and more.
For credits issued through August 31, United will also implement a one-time opportunity to share credits with friends or family.
