In early May my husband and I spent a week in the Detroit, Michigan area. While there we took a little road trip south to Toledo, Ohio to get a picture of the Ohio state welcome sign. We didn’t spend much time in Toledo, just grabbed some dinner, but we hope to go back soon on another visit to the area. This sign was found on M-125 on the Ohio and Michigan state border. Happy travels!
Desert View Watchtower, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
A visit to the Desert View Watchtower on the eastern portion of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. Constructed in the 1930s, it offers magnificent canyon views and a tie to the Native American history of the Canyon.
Toledo in Ohio is an interesting story. If I recall a program I once saw on how state lines were determined, Toledo was in Michigan territory but that was contested by Ohio. After a bloodless skirmish between the two, a deal was struck where Ohio got Toledo and Michigan was given most of the Upper Peninsula (The Mitten). Who got the best deal?
